Freshly Bloomed!

I know we are all waiting for our colleges to reopen. Each one of us wants to visit the campus and experience the life we dreamt of for the past three years (almost). Alas! The return doesn't seem quite probable in the coming future. Anyway, the online semester has stories of its own, and here I am with one such story.

Aneesh Ray, a freshie in IIT, was eagerly waiting for his classes to commence, but more than that he was eager to meet his batchmates, folks with whom he had to spend next four years of his life. The day finally arrived, 30th November 2020, the classes started, and he eventually met everyone in the meet. His eyes fell upon one person, who he pinned, for the rest of the meet.

Aastha Sinha, a freshie in IIT, was eagerly waiting for her classes to commence, but more than that she was eager to meet her batchmates, folks with whom she had to spend next four years of her life. The day finally arrived, 30th November 2020, the classes started, and she eventually met everyone in the meet. Her eyes fell upon one person, who she pinned, for the rest of the meet.

Cupid's arrows had hit their targets, and feelings had started brewing. But like every love story, this story too had its hurdles. Our protagonists could not meet each other, and more so, they couldn't even start talking. So, with the desires buried in their hearts, they let destiny play its game.

A few weeks later, Aneesh came across the college's confession page on Facebook. He knew this wouldn't be of much help, but anyway something is better than nothing, so he poured his heart out in the google form and waited for it to be posted. The next day it was posted, and as soon as it happened, a storm erupted in the WhatsApp group. Department's first confession and that too on Aastha! All sorts of assumptions and guesses were being made, but Aneesh's attention was on Aastha's response. And to his disappointment, she regarded it as fake.

On the other side, Aastha didn't care much about the confession. She had expected that something like this would, sooner or later, happen. But the confession gave her an idea, or perhaps a means to express her feelings. So she poured her heart out in the google form and waited for it to be posted. The next day it was posted, and as soon as it happened, another storm erupted in the WhatsApp group. Department's first male confession, that too on Aneesh! All sorts of assumptions and guesses were being made, but Aastha's attention was on Aneesh's response. And to her disappointment, he too regarded it as fake.

But, it has been said in the Alchemist, "If you really want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." And, this blooming story was anything but over.

A few weeks later, the technical groups came up with a competition. Participants were required to form a team. Aneesh seeing this as an opportunity asked Aastha whether she was interested. Aastha, on the other hand, couldn't help but grab this opportunity. The ice was finally broken. They were finally talking, though much of it was work-related. But it was still, progress. Once they were done, the talks became casual.

One such conversation, which ended up being a bit special, went on like this:

....

Aneesh: Tumhara to jalwa hai yahan!

Aastha: Aree... kyu?

Aneesh: Confessions aa rahe hain tumhaare upar ;p

Aastha: Vo to tumhaare upar bhi aaye hain.

Aneesh: Mera vaala to fake tha.

Aastha: Aree Nahi... tumhara to phir bhi original tha.... Mera vaala tha fake.

Aneesh: Nahi tumhaara to original hi tha!

Aastha: How are you so sure? Tumhe pata hai kisne likha hai?

Aneesh: Haan... Shayad.

Aastha: Well, mujhe bhi pata hai shayad tumhaara.

Aneesh: Ooo... Kon hai vo?

Aastha: Pehle tum batao.

Aneesh: Aree... Achha chalo saath mein bolte hain.

Aastha: Okay... 1... 2... 3.

Together: Maine likha tha!

...

So that's how the story started. What happened further is quite obvious. I won't write any more, as I don't know much and the couple calls in for privacy. But anyway, I'll see you again with another interesting story. Until then...

Adiós!
